The move to introduce Chinese and Tamil languages in schools is a positive step and reflects the Government's commitment towards strengthening national unity.
In announcing Budget 2007, Prime Minister Datul Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced that the Chinese language a s full subject would be taught in 150 national schools, and Tamil in 70 schools.
The Budget cared for the future of Malaysians because education for youth and children was given top priority.
Scholarships to needy students who score at least 10A1s are critical in supplementing existing scholarship schemes. Bright students from poor families will be assured of pursuing higher education.
The increase in monthly allowances for poor students and the abolishing of examination fees would help sustain their education.
